About The Winemaker

Randal Wilson is the co-owner and winemaker at White Oak Vineyards. He is also the resident expert on growing most everything, from fruits to flowers and vegetables. He hails from Mobile, Alabama and still returns to the Gulf Coast as often as his winemaking duties will allow. Many of the farm’s native flower collection comes from this area.
Randal studied enology and viticulture after an early stint in the Navy as a submariner, landing in California to complete college at the University of California. After that, an internship, and then a 30+ year career with the USDA afforded him the opportunity to hone skills in agriculture and soil science. Although he has lived in various states, including Nevada, his love of the green rolling hills of Alabama drew him home in 1996 where he completed his career and retired. Now he’s working harder than he ever thought about before! But Randal loves the farm and the daily challenges that make life in beautiful, rural Alabama wonderful.
Come and visit, spend a few minutes with Randal, and find out more about the art and science of winemaking. He is always glad to have visitors and loves to talk.
